San Francisco with aunt Ingegerd!

Carolines aunt Ingegerd is coming to America for the very first time! So I figured I would show her some pretty cool highlights of what the Bay area has to offer.

On the first weekend, we all decided to meet in San Francisco on a Saturday. I was super nervous to meet her yet also curious. She was very nice and she spoke English pretty well. It was fun to complete her sentences for her sometimes, (made me feel smart). We were standing there getting to know one another for an hour and a half while waiting for the cable car to take us to the Fishermans Wharf. There was this really aggressive irritating Christian preacher with a microphone attempting to force religion onto pedestrians and I had to listen to that for an hour while waiting for the trolly. We finally got onto the cable car and we all packed in there like sardines and had to sit seperately. Riding the trolly was interesting, I enjoyed looking at the bay point horizon sights as we got to the peak of the hill, although I did not enjoy the awkward moment where a German mans junk was resting on my knee cap almost the whole ride to Fishermans Wharf.

We walked around passing many stores, then a hot sauce store caught my eye. I walked in and sampled all types of hot sauces. They had a peach mango Habanero hot sauce that was to die for, but dopey me had to ask them what was their hottest sauce they had to offer. The store employees looked at eachother and grinned, they made me sign a waiver before sampling three drops of "The hottest sauce in the universe (2nd dimension)" on a plastic spoon with nothing to go with it. It was seriously the hottest sauce that I have ever had and I have dabbled with many spicy ingredients. I started shaking and my adrenaline told me to purchase a bottle. I didn't realize the prize until after I stopped dying. It was $24.95 for a little four inch bottle! Although, in my attempt to defend my stupidity, the sauce did have a very smokey delicious flavor. I have enjoyed cooking with it in small doses.

After the hot sauce of death epsiode, We walked over to get tickets for the bridge to bridge boat tour that takes you from the Bay bridge to the Golden gate bridge, and then around Alcatraz. It was so damn windy but so much fun! It was euphoric to be that close to the Golden gate Bridge. The boat stopped in front of Alcatraz for a while and we spoke about the history of the island. There was a swarm of pelicans circling above Alcatraz. I went on a rant about how interesting it is that pelicans seem to be drawn to eriee locations.

After the little boat ride, we walked down the pier and took pictures in front of a giant Christmas tree. We went into this amazing chocolate store. Ingegerd and I both share a deep love for toffee chocolate. After the chocolate store, we went to this nice restaurant Fishermen's Grotto. Seafood and wine makes a great combination. I ordered the shellfish sampler platter. It was...alright. I have had so many different types of seafood but never in my life have I been served RAW clams. Steamed clams are where it's at! There were only two clams on the sampler, I "ate" one. The waiter asked how everything was, I gave him hell about the clam. So he comes back with one shell-less clam that is sitting in a dippy cup. I ate it expecting it to be steamed. It was not steamed. It was just the same shitty clam, only luke warm. I still had a nice time sipping wine with my baby Caroline and conversating with Ingegerd and sharing many laughs. We took a cab back to the train station, then rode the train home. We were so exhausted from a busy day.

I will never forget that day.
