Hostages and dead rats - what a week!
Since winter here is like fall in Sweden it started raining a lot in November. I had some bad luck one day when I almost hit a squirrel with the car because it came running out of nowhere. And when I was driving back to San Jose the car in front of me started acting really weird. All of a sudden a giant piece of thick plastic flew right underneath it (the driver had obviously tried to avoid it). It flew right up on my windshield with a loud BANG and I threw myself to the left because I was so sure I would have glass crashing down all over me! Luckily the windshield didn't even get a scratch... wow!
We had a crazy hostage situation going on just six streets away from here one night. We heard a chopper over the house and found out online what was going on. The police blocked off several big roads because a man had taken a woman hostage and held a gun to her head. They ended up staying in the house for hours while the police were trying to make him surrender. Eventually the police decided to open fire. But when they came into the house the man had already killed the woman and the police had to kill the guy too since I assume he refused to put his gun down. I drove past that area on my way to the November au pair meeting and saw cops everywhere. In the meeting we baked our LCC's yummy apple pie. I went to the same meeting last year and loved that recipe. It felt really strange this time though because I hadn't seen my au pair group in a while because things got in the way and almost my whole au pair group consist of new people. I understand the old au pairs better now. The ones who didn't really showed up to meetings at the end of their year because they probably had better things to do too. And that's the point, to have your au pair group as a support but at the end of the day you want to find a way of living the fits you. I have a completely different life and new friends in San Jose that I love hanging out with. The new people in my au pair group are really nice though!
Coming home from the meeting was awful! I only had time to change my clothes and I was one second away from crawling into bed when Reese comes in with a dead rat (or giant mouse) in his mouth!!! UGH!!!! REESE!!! I know I'm not supposed to yell at him so from faaar away I said "good boy" and then ran the hell out of the room, hahaha! He put it on our bedroom floor so I didn't want to stay in the room. The last time he did that the little thing was still alive and I was NOT going to go through that again. Especially since Nick was at work and he's the one who has no problem dealing with these things :P I ended up sitting on the kitchen sofa with my laptop for a few hours. It was torture because the kitchen was freeeeezing cold. I thought Nick would be home by midnight because that's usually when the E-rig guys get off work, but he actually didn't come home until 2 am! But finally Nick's dad came home from work at 1 am and could save me :P haha. He just took a shovel and threw the rat over the fence. YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! Me and Nick love animals though so if it can be saved then we always try to let it out in freedom. We don't care how small and disgusting they are, all living beings deserves a chance. But unfortunately it was too late for this one!
Late night cuddles with Charlie in the back yard!

When Nick walks out the room his bestie Reese waits by the door and even tries to peek under it to see when he's coming back :) haha aaww

Cute cuddles during a cold fall morning

Pretty cool clouds

I went back to work just for one day to help out with errands. I filled up the car with recycling stuff TWICE and took it to the recycle center. I was coughing so much though that my host mom gave me another day off to recover.

The new au pair group, just a few of these people have been there from when I started. There are a couple of people missing in this photo too.

Snickeroooo!

She kept me company while I was waiting for Nick to come home and help me with the rat xD
