After I came home from the Christmas cookie class our buddy Indy came by to drop off Nick's birthday present :) He had made a wodden box and a beautiful knife all by himself! He's so talented and can make the coolest stuff. Since Nick loves cooking food and always complains that the kitchen knives suck this was the perfect gift! While hanging out with Indy he mentioned that there was a lighted boat tour in Santa Cruz that same night. So we decided to go! It takes about 40 minutes to drive there so it's the perfect getaway when you have nothing else to do. During this time Nick was working such long days that I didn't see him more than 1½ hour per day. Only when we woke up to get ready for the day and then an hour after work. He came home in the middle of the night, we had dinner and then crashed in bed just to get up early the next day and do it all over again. So when the weekend came alone we wanted to make the most of it.

 

This lighted boat tour was the coolest! The Santa Cruz harbor was full of boats that had decorations all over them and some of them were playing music. We walked along the harbor and enjoyed the view. There were no crazy parties or only families with little kids - it's was the perfect mix of both! Before going home we wanted to grab something to eat so Indy recommended a restaurant called 99 bottles of beer on the wall. You get a membership card and every time you go there and try a new kind of beer they cross it off your list. And you can also put your name on the wall and a little quote. I personally don't like beer but Nick who sometimes goes to a beer club of course had to sign up :) I thought it was a very fun idea though, incredibly nice place with friendly staff and delicious food!
