Christmas with my baby

Me and Nick got to spend our first Christmas together all by ourselves which was perfect :) We watched "Tomten - En vintersaga" which is an old Swedish short movie from the 40's. A woman reads a poem about the little santa/elf who people back in those days believed was taking care of their farm when they were asleep. He walks around in deep snow feeding the animals, cuddles with the cat and looks after the sleeping family. Yet he stops once in a while to ponder over what happens to each family he takes care of. He has been taking care of them for generations but can't figure out why they sometimes disappear and never come back. It is such a sweet and innocent story of life's mystery. There is a version on YouTube with English subtitles so Nick could enjoy it too.

Then I decided that it was time to shower, since it was Christmas and all. This might not sound like a big deal to anyone else. But since I suffer from OCD and had never showered at Nick's house before it was quite the challenge. Living with OCD means that I have to force myself to do things even though I imagine that there are germs everywhere (and it's not like they are all fake germs, some are real too). It's just a part of who I am and something that can't be treated more than what it already has through therapy. That is why I am so grateful for Nick who is working so hard to understand how my brain works even though it doesn't always make sense to him. With time he has understood more of it though and can understand my logic behind it and doesn't think I am totally crazy. He knows how much anxiety I get about showering in someone else's shower, so when I finally had to do it he showered with me and played Christmas music to calm me down.

Then we put together a Christmas meal with Swedish waffles, whipped cream, grilled cheese sandwiches and Swedish warm glögg that we had in front of a fire in the back yard. Later in the evening we went inside and had a blast playing "Who am I?". It was a perfect first Christmas :)

Snickers loves eating ice cream and whipped cream with us when she gets the chance :)

Reese the little hunter refused to let me hang up this sweater after doing laundry.
