It feels like forever ago since I was sitting at the airport in Orlando, but that doesn't mean I don't remember how much I wanted to throw my luggage out the window and lay down on the ground and cry!! UGH!! After just three hours of sleep we had to get up early and head to the airport. It would have been awesome if I could have stayed at the hotel longer since my flight departed in the evening. But since a taxi to the aiport cost 50 dollar we decided to go there at the same time. So I dropped my sister off at American Airlines at 9 am and from that moment on I had 9 hours of waiting in front of me..

 

The last thing you want to do in a public place is to fall asleep of course. So it was torture trying to keep my eyes open. I tried everything! I found a Dunkin Donuts which I haven't seen since I lived in Chicago. Bought a donut to get a sugar rush. Then I bought a book which I tried reading but that only made me more sleepy. Great! All that remained was taking long walks at the airport and drag my luggage around. Can't say it was fun. The only two things I had to look forward to was calling Nick and walking to the gate. Nick was with Kristie and Jon at Lake Berryessa and I was waiting to get pictures from their trip. But no pictures came and when I tried calling Nick he didn't pick up. I realized that he probably didn't have service at the lake or that his phone battery was dead. UGH!! After sitting all alone, bored out of my mind, extremly tired and cold for 6 hours this was the last thing I wanted. Oh well, not much to do about that.

 

After 9 hours it was finally time to board the plane. I'm not kidding when I say in that EXACT moment a big gray cloud came out of nowhere and covered the sky. REALLY?? REALLY?? We had blue skies all day and now this comes along?? The flight crew rushed to get us on board so they could take off before the storm was above us. Just as everyone had sat down the crew told us it was unfortunately too late and we would have to wait it out. So we sat on the plane for 1 hour waiting for this stupid lightning storm to pass. Let's just say that I had zero patience at that point. On my way home we landed in Las Vegas to pick up some more passengers. And I gotta thank the flight crew who had a great sense of humor and cheered me up :P The captain told the new passengers to "Look around, find someone attractive to sit next to. Put your bag in front of you under the chair, bla bla blaaa. If you want money, take it from the person in front of you". And then he played "Old time rock n roll" when it was time to take off :P lol. The flight attendants were probably getting pretty tired too because their message to the passengers was "You're getting sleeeepy. You don't want anything to drink and you do not want peanuts".

When we landed in Vegas I finally got a text from Nick saying that his phone had died but he was home now. I was supposed to take a taxi back to Mountain View but he said he'd pick me up so I could sleep at his house instead. I was still pissed off beyond belief at my stupid day so I just muttered a thank you and looked out the window where it was pitch black :P He sure knows how to make me happy though. When I had jumped into his car he handed me a sweet card and a bouquet of roses :) It was supposed to be a dozen but for some reason there were 13 in there, lol!

It warmed my heart how happy all three kids were to see me again - they really missed me! Every time I walked out of my room Matteo announced that I was there with such joy! The kids have also heard of a potion that can make people live forever and they have decided to give me one of those potions ;) cuties...

Dunkin Donuts... long time no see!
