Shooting stars and Turtle Rock
Back at the camping area our two favorite chefs, Nick and Kristie, cooked as much of the food as possible. It's a lot trickier to do that out in the middle of nature of course but they did a good job :) I'm famous by now for not being great at cooking food, but if there is anything I can take with me from this trip is that I'm amazing at cutting onions in rainbow shapes ;)
Me and Kristie got started at putting up the tent since the guys were busy dying from heat exhaustion :P Although we quickly realized that this tent wasn't going to be very cooperative. All four of us tried getting it to stand up for a good long while, but it was broken and ended up looking flat as a pancake, haha. We didn't worry too much about it and focused on eating and spraying each other with cold water instead. In the evening we wanted to go back to the lake for a swim. Jon stayed to watch the fire since the drought quickly can cause a disaster. The water was definitely colder but it was still nice to go swimming while watching the sun go down!
As it got pitch black dark and all of the other campers around us were playing music or going to bed, we stayed up playing a game and just hung out. Me and Nick decided to walk down to the lake again and it was beautiful! We ended up laying on the bridge or the dock, not sure what to call it, watching falling stars and the bright shining moon. We must have been there for a while because when we got back Jon and Kristie were asleep aod snoring loudly in the tent (that they had managed to stand up), haha! We weren't even tired and hadn't made our beds yet so after sitting by the fire for a while we decided to sleep in the car instead. It was hardly the most comfortable experience. First we tried to lay in the backseat but that was so uncomfortable that we layed down in the front seats instead. Lol, what a night. Nick slept pretty much the whole time while I woke up a bunch of times. I did see another falling star though and two deers enjoying the cool breeze of the early morning hours. It's funny when you notice who is a morning person and not. We were sure that Kristie would come jumping out of the tent ready to go as soon as the sun was up, but she was up for 10 minutes and then gave up and went back to bed, haha. I already knew Nick hates early mornings so he stayed in the car for a few more hours while me and Jon put together the most worthless breakfast, hahaha. It took forever to pack everything up. Afterwards we went to the lake one last time and I sat on the beach while they went for a swim.
There is a place called Turtle Rock 20 minutes away that we had been to once to get something to eat and drink and we stopped there again on our way home. It's such a cool place in the mountains where you see all kinds of people. This time a big crew of bikers/old veterans stopped by and they were all very sweet. Turtle Rock have their guests sign 1 dollar bills that they put up on the walls. We thought it was a fun idea so we of course made our own contributions ;)
Looots of ice! Lol, look at the tent in the background that is pretty much blowing away.

We weren't exactly starving

Flat as a pancake!

Look at his arm!! What the heck happened??? xD hahaha

Late night swim! :)

In the shallow water there is a ton of rocks and seaweed. Nick still has problems with his ankle a whole year after his accident. It still swells up and hurts a lot. In other words he would have a hard time walking over all of those rocks. Soo... ;)

Beautiful full moon by the lake

Pretty awesome evening!

Lol, crammed together in the car

We had so much fun at Turtle Rock after leaving the lake!

Our 1 dollar bill

Me and Nick signed one, Jon and Kristie signed one and then we all signed one together :) It totally sucked leaving this paradise and going back to reality but we were very happy with this weekend!
