Nick surprised me with a camping trip to Lake Berryessa! He of course had to tell me about it two days before so that I could pack what I needed. But I loved this surprise so much! He, Kristie and Jon had been planning it behind my back ;) I had been so jealous when they went there while I was stuck at the airport so I was super excited. We were supposed to go there earlier but because of a huge forest fire in that area we didn't want to risk it. But on Saturday, August 1 we filled the whole car with stuff and squeezed ourselves in there somehow, lol. It was a 2 hour long car ride and on the way there we actually saw some burnt out areas where the fire had been. It was still burning because of the drought but not at the side of the lake that we were going to. It was kind of a big weekend too since it had been exactly 1 year since Nick shattered his ankle. He's come a long way with getting his strength back, learning how to walk again and going back to work. So that was definitely worth celebrating! :)
