Pride

If there is one thing I have learned about my future husband, it's that he's not a morning person. It's best to just let him be grumpy, let him eat and not speak to him unless it's about something important ;) So when we decided to get up early in the morning to see the Pride festival in downtown San Jose it was definitely a challenge for him. Especially since we got there just when it started and there were almost no people on the streets at all! I have always wanted to visit Stockholm Pride which is a huge event but this didn't seem to draw a crowd at all. We were so disappointed!! Especially considering that it was the festival's 40 year anniversary. Then finally, after seeing the first 15 min of the parade, the party got started! All of a sudden the streets were filled with people and the parade kept getting more and more fun! We ended up having a blast dancing along to the music and smiling with everyone who also were there to encourage the rest of the world to have a more non-judgemental way of thinking.

After the parade we went to the festival area which was much smaller than we had expected. We quickly walked through all of the little places where you could buy food and ended up watching an old man sing awesome songs. With so many people around us who dressed as crazy as they wanted to without having to worry about other people's opinions, it was hard not to be swept into a carefree way of thinking. We were done with the Pride festival by noon (lunch time as we would say in Sweden) so we weren't sure about what to do after that. Our day had been great so far and we didn't want the fun to end. We ended up going on a spontaneous trip to Santa Cruz to continue enjoying the beautiful weather! More on that in my next blog post :)

First star of the Pride festival!
Now we're talking! The fun is starting!
Nick even bought a Pride bandana :D
Walking towards the festival
Mmm, it sure smelled good!
On our way to Santa Cruz... never have I ever seen this many pigeons at one gas station!
