1 year in Cali
In exactly two and a half hours it has been one year since I put my feet on Calfornia ground for the very first time. I remember that night so well and I can't believe it has been that long ago. I got out of bed really early in Chicago so that I could say good bye to my host family, especially my host kids, before they had to go to school and work. I hugged and kissed the baby who is now over a year old! She cried when I had to give her to the new baby sitter but I know she got used to her as well with time :) I had been one of the most important people in her life since she was just 1½ month old and I knew exactly how to make her stop crying so it sucked having to leave her.
My Swedish au pair friend Lovisa who was one of the girls who I traveled to The States with, all of a sudden came walking up to me at the airport! Such a funny coincidence that she was on her way to go on a vacation with her brother. So we sat on the same airplane. How funny. We started this adventure as strangers and ended it as friends :) We made friends with a guy on the airplane and I sure was happy about that after our flight was delayed. He and I missed our connecting flight to Chicago, so at least I had someone to talk to for those horribly boring 4 hours in Salt Lake City. I arrived to the house in Mountain View at midnight and remember how my new host mom came out and gave me a hug :) Looking back now is pretty cool, I have never ever had this many amazing things happen to me in one year! I'm excited about the future!
