Almost swept away by the Santa Cruz waves
Unfotunately my phone couldn't be saved so there are a lot of pictures, videos and written down memories that are gone from October. But I managed to save some things from social media and things that I have sent to other people.
Me and Nick had a pretty interesting day after he had been up all night recording music. There was a music festival in Santa Cruz that we were supposed to check out. But we went there so late that we decided to change our plans. There are some beautiful cliffs in Santa Cruz and we thought it would be cool to get closer to the edge since that is where the waves crash. It was so scary in the dark so we were being very careful. Although Nick, the daredevil, decided to walk all the way down to the cliff closest to the water since there were no waves crashing right there. Don't you think a giant wave all of a sudden crashes right there?? All I heard was him screaming "NO!!" and I was sure that he was going to get swept away in the ocean and that I would never see him ever again. It was completely dark and no one around so there wouldn't have been no chance for me to get help on time. Ugh, horrible moment! But luckily he managed to press himself close to the wall of the cliff and escape by running up the hill, a little less dry than he was before... after that adrenaline rush all we wanted to do was eat ourselves full at Denny's :P Despite the craziness I am glad that Nick convinces me to be more daring sometimes. Life is more fun that way.
After going to IKEA four(!) times in just one week to buy shelves and toy boxes for my host family, it was nice to get to just go there with Nick. He had never been there before so I got to show him around and try to explain what is so special about it :P What I found out is that he's actually like a big kid in those places. He gets restless and comes up with michevious things just to get a funny reactions out of people, haha :P it was like shopping with a three year old!! Luckily he appreciated our visit there after all and he was extra interested when we reached the market area where all of the Swedish food can be found. We bought a whole bunch of stuff. Dammsugare and chokladbollar was really weird according to him, haha. But he loves Swedish meatballs! And glögg! ;)
Best quote from the kids this week:
At the bagel store. Amanda really is an expert at getting what she wants, hahaha!
Daniel - "I want to sit next to Caroline!"
Amanda - "No I want to sit next to Caroline! Haven't you heard that if little boys sit next to baby sitters... they die!"
Daniel - "Oh..."

After staying awake half the night watching Nick and Noah record music I woke up to the sunrise and a nice photo opportunity of this guy

Earlier that night, laying in bed while the guys were working on Nick's music

After being totally lazy in bed we decided to head to Santa Cruz!!

By the cliffs and the huge waves! I didn't dare to walk further down than this but obviously Nick is more of a risk taker :P haha

To calm ourselves after that crazy little adventure we went to Denny's - they have the best food!

At IKEA you just gotta try out some furniture

Nick was certainly surprised to see all of these shopping carts at IKEA, lol :P

Having lunch at the IKEA restaurant, the food we bought at the market was better and not so Americanized ;)

Our good friend Tyler has been coming over to hang out more often which has been great :D

Rub - a - dub - dub

Sleepy heads

Love this flower whatever it is called, it lights everything up

Our routines got a little messed up there for a while. So I ended up taking care of Matteo more then usual. I took him out for several naps in the stroller. Here he has just woken up :)

Going back to work has been great for Nick as you can see!

These two...<3

Pumpkin spice eggnog, Nick's homemade mozzarella (Monterey jack) sticks from scratch and thin crispy Swedish waffles with whipped cream and raspberry jam. Can you ask for a yummier dinner!?
