4th of July in Morgan Hill
We just had to do something fun on 4th of July since it's such a big deal here in America. In Sweden we do celebrate our national day but not like this. So we drove all the way to Morgan Hill where we met up with Nick. His mom sang the national anthem. We made it there just on time to see it but unfortunately Nick missed it. There was just so many people and we didn't know exactly where the stage was. But after the performance the parade started. I finally got to see a real, big, all out there American parade!! I've waited and waited. On TV it seems like they have these parade's all of the time. But I have realized that they mostly do that in the smaller cities instead of the big ones. Which I can understand, because it is a lot of trouble of course. And it looked just like I had imagined. Red, white and blue trucks going by thousands of people who were lined up on the streets with the burning hot and dry California mountains in the background. It was perfect.
In the evening we hung out at Nick's house. He cooked chicken for him and my sister and we had a good time. I drove her home and then went back to Nick's house to watch the fireworks that the neighbors had. It was nice to see some fireworks since I didn't get to see any on New Years. There was some of them in the sky but mostly on the ground since there are many rules regarding what kind of fireworks you can shoot. It's obviously because of the drought and I know some people water the roofs of their hosues before days like these, just in case a firework lands on it. It's interesting even having to think about that now. In Sweden that's never an issue. Of course we have accidents but in general there is no major risk for our houses to burn down because of fireworks. I guess that is why the sky is full of fireworks and smoke on New Years since the roof tops are covered in snow and well protected that way.
Nick made his signature spicy drink ;) He loves spicy food and drinks. I'm not very fond of that but I did taste this drink once and it had a nice flavor :)
Cuddle time with Mr Charles!
Cuties!!
